How do threadlifts work?

PDO threads are made of a biocompatible material called polydioxanone. They are inserted beneath the skin using fine needles to provide structural support. Over time, the threads are naturally absorbed by the body while stimulating collagen production.

Some patients may notice early changes, while more visible effects are typically seen as new collagen develops over the following months. Outcomes vary, and multiple factors such as skin type, treatment area, and individual response can influence results.

Mono threads: Smooth threads that are placed in a mesh-like pattern to provide support to the skin and may help soften the appearance of fine lines.
Barbed threads: Threads with tiny hooks designed to provide additional lifting support. They may create an immediate lifting effect, but ongoing improvement can occur gradually as collagen forms.

Consultation

The provider will assess and mark the treatment areas on the skin. A personalized plan is created based on your goals and individual needs.

Local Anesthetic

A local anesthetic is administered to help minimize discomfort in the treatment area.

Thread Placement

Threads are inserted beneath the skin using a cannula or needle. Some types of threads are smooth, while others have small barbs designed to anchor into the tissue.

Repositioning

Threads may provide immediate structural support, and over time the body may respond by producing collagen around the threads. Results vary by individual.

Recovery + Repeat

Threads are gradually absorbed by the body. Maintenance treatments may be suggested every 6–12 months, depending on the treatment area and individual response.
